Build a small tabletop tray from cherry wood with dovetail joinery completely by hand! In this 5-part series, you will explore the concepts of artisanal design and construction by laying out and cutting dovetail joints using traditional hand tools. You will experience the difference between rip and crosscut saws, block planes and jackplanes, a variety of chisels, card scrapers, and spokeshaves. Getting to know dovetail joinery will give you the skills you need to get started on drawers, cabinets, boxes, and more!  Cost includes all materials.

Meet the instructor: Piper Tamler

Meet the instructor, Piper Tamler! Piper is passionate about building and teaching, and Talent Maker City is the magical place where she gets to do both! An experienced natural builder, Piper has a background in contracting and carpentry, and has focused on putting her skills towards building healthy homes with non-toxic and recycled materials. She's taught natural building and carpentry workshops in Oregon, Vermont, Nicaragua, and Guatemala, and spends every summer teaching kids to create beautiful, useful things with TMC's partner organization, Girls Build. Piper helped kick off TMC's fire relief program in the fall of 2020, has ben an integral part of the Bus Project and has been teaching and building with TMC ever since!
