Rolling in the Dough | Intro to Woodturning

Learn the basics of spindle turning and come make a rolling pin with us! In this beginner's woodturning class, you will be introduced to the benchtop lathe and a variety of gouges used for turning rectangular wood round. You'll learn techniques for creating consistent shapes and tapers, and how to sand and finish your piece. By the end of this workshop, you'll walk away with your own hand-made rolling pin, the perfect gift for your favorite baker this holiday season!

No previous experience required!

Meet the instructor, Piper Tamler! Piper is passionate about building and teaching, and Talent Maker City is the magical place where she gets to do both! An experienced natural builder, Piper has a background in contracting and carpentry, and has focused on putting her skills towards building healthy homes with non-toxic and recycled materials. She's taught natural building and carpentry workshops in Oregon, Vermont, Nicaragua, and Guatemala, and spends every summer teaching kids to create beautiful, useful things with TMC's partner organization, Girls Build. Piper helped kick off TMC's fire relief program in the fall of 2020, has ben an integral part of the Bus Project and has been teaching and building with TMC ever since!
