Respect and Kindness
- Treat everyone with respect and kindness.
- Listen actively and without judgment.
- Be mindful of your language and actions; if you wouldn’t say it - to a puppy, don’t say it here.
- Be the cheerleader in someone’s learning journey, not the critic.
Inclusive Environment
Diversity is our secret sauce. Celebrate it!
• Foster an environment where everyone feels welcome. Period.
• Encourage participation, ensuring that everyone's voice is heard.
• Be curious and encourage curiosity in others.
Safety First
• Follow all safety guidelines like your life depends on it—because it might.
• Prior to attending a workshop or using the space, all participants need to have a signed waiver. All youth need a waiver signed by an adult.
• Report any unsafe conditions or behaviors to staff immediately.
• Report all close calls and accidents to staff immediately.
• Wear close-toed shoes; your toes will thank you.
• Hair ties are a must if you’ve got long locks. We love your hair, but we’d prefer it stays on your head and out of the machinery.
• Avoid loose fitting clothing that could become snagged in tools and machinery.
Conflict Resolution
• Address conflicts respectfully and seek to resolve them collaboratively.
• If conflicts cannot be resolved among participants, involve a staff member.
Feedback and Improvement
• Constructive feedback is like a good cup of coffee: strong and helpful.
• Be open to feedback. It’s how we all get better.
• Suggest improvements—let’s make this place even more awesome together.
