Hands-On STEAM & Creative Learning for Visiting OSF School Groups
Program Overview
TMC workshops are designed as engaging, station-based experiences where students rotate through facilitated activities in our studios. Programming emphasizes creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and reflection—mirroring the roles and workflows found in theatrical production.
Studios & activities may include:
Woodshop (construction, woodworking, symbolic objects,
Screenprinting (posters, banners, totes, or tees)
Fiber Arts (costume design, fabric dyeing, eco-printing, embroidery, felting, appliqué, and weaving)
Watercolor & visual arts (mood, setting, character studies, special effects makeup)
Digital fabrication (laser engraving, vinyl cutting, 3D printing)
Workshops are age-appropriate, spoiler-free, and can be customized to align with OSF themes, specific plays, or school learning goals.
Talent Maker City (TMC) is a nonprofit community makerspace in Talent, Oregon, offering immersive, hands-on educational experiences for school groups visiting Southern Oregon for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF). Our programs complement live theater by connecting storytelling, design, and making through creative, collaborative projects. Students leave with multiple hands-made items and a deeper connection between theater, creativity, and real-world skills.

“We’ve been bringing our students to Talent Maker City for three years now, and it has become such a huge part of their learning experience. We come back twice a year because the impact is always so powerful. From the moment we walk in, the students are welcomed into a space that feels creative, joyful, and real.
The TMC team has an amazing knack for connecting with young people - meeting them right where they are and building their confidence through hands-on making. Our students leave every visit energized, proud of what they’ve built, and genuinely happy. It’s rare to find a place that brings together creativity, belonging, and craftsmanship in such a special way. It really sticks with the kids long after we leave.”
