Alli, Tara, Kolby working at Pompadour Bluff.
In celebration of Earth Month, we’re excited to highlight a project that brought together craftsmanship, community, and care for the land - our collaboration with the Southern Oregon Land Conservancy at Pompadour Bluff.
And wow… this one was special.
We had the opportunity to work alongside SOLC staff, board members, and volunteers to design and build a beautiful new kiosk at the Pompadour Bluff site - a welcoming structure that will help tell the story of the land and guide visitors for years to come.
Designed at TMC, Built for the Land
The kiosk was thoughtfully designed right here at TMC by Aki, who made sure every detail was considered - from structural integrity to aesthetics. The roofline was engineered with care to withstand the elements, and (one of our favorite details) the slope perfectly mirrors the natural angle of Pompadour Bluff itself.
It’s one of those subtle design moments that just clicks when you see it.
And if the roofing looks familiar… you’re not imagining things.
That’s the same metal siding as our building at 109 Talent Ave, giving this project a little extra TMC connection out in the landscape.
Built with History (and Heart)
This project was full of thoughtful reuse - which I will happily tell you, is very much our love language.
The four main support posts?
Made from a very old 20 ft. telephone pole that was already on the property.
We also pulled and repurposed old fencing posts from the historic homestead on site, giving those materials new life as part of the kiosk’s structure.
There’s something really meaningful about building something new while honoring what was already there.
Community in Action
We had such a great time building alongside Tara, Kristi, Wyatt, and an incredible crew of volunteers from SOLC.
Kolby ran point on the build, guiding the team through tool use (including chop saw training!) and making sure everything was square, level, secure, and built to last.
From setting posts with solid cement and rock to carefully attaching roofing materials, this was a true team effort. And honestly? It showed.
There’s something about working side-by-side, outside, on a shared goal that brings people together in the best way.
A Place That Will Welcome Many
The finished kiosk sits beautifully on the landscape - grounded, thoughtful, and built with care from so many hands.
It’s the kind of structure that quietly does its job while holding a whole lot of story:
of place
of the flora and fauna
of materials reused
of community collaboration
and of people coming together to build something meaningful
We’re so grateful that Southern Oregon Land Conservancy gave us the opportunity to be part of this project.

Thanks to all of you for being part of our story and community - together we’re building a more connected, creative, and resilient place through hands-on making.
Hope to see you in the shop someday soon.
