A community that makes together,
stays together.

Between COVID, the lockdowns, wildfires ripping through Southern Oregon, and assorted other calamities, this year has presented more than a few challenges for us all.

Through it all, though, one thing has remained the same: A community that makes together, stays together.

At Talent Maker City, our community’s strength and resiliency have never been more apparent than in the aftermath of the Almeda Fire. Through our Rise Up + Rebuild workshop series, local youth and instructors from Girls Build have built nearly 30 wooden bed frames for displaced fire victims. Community partners have chipped in on the effort, too, with financial support, donated mattresses, bedding, hardware, and materials.

Together, we’ve accomplished a lot, but there’s still so much more to do. In 2021, TMC will expand the Rise Up + Rebuild series to include additional furniture building, basic electronics, and more. Not only do these builds help those who lost everything, but the hands-on learning and skill-building provides local youth with the opportunity to participate in their own recovery from the historic devastation of our communities.

The Rise Up + Rebuild workshops are free to student builders and the beds are provided to fire victims at no cost to them. We need your help to keep it that way. A year-end contribution of as little as $25 covers the cost of a hand-built twin bed frame. A donation today will make a difference for a generation.
